3 Days Tour from Fes to Merzouga

Your 3-day journey begins with pickup from your accommodation in Fes. We travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Ifrane, a mountain town often called the Switzerland of Morocco because of its distinctive alpine-style setting.

We continue through the cedar forest, where Barbary macaques can sometimes be seen in their natural surroundings. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but the forest itself is a beautiful part of the Middle Atlas journey.

The road then continues toward the Ziz Valley, known for its palm-filled landscapes and dramatic scenery. We make stops along the route before continuing toward the Sahara.

By the end of the day, we arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will have time to settle into your hotel or riad and prepare for the full desert exploration planned for the following day.

Today is dedicated to discovering the landscapes and communities around Merzouga. After breakfast, we begin a desert exploration by 4×4, traveling beyond the main roads to experience different parts of the Erg Chebbi region.

During the 4×4 excursion, we visit Khamlia village and explore the Merzouga oasis and the seasonal desert lake area. The route also takes us toward the old mining area and through the open desert landscapes surrounding the Erg Chebbi dunes.

We also visit nomad families living in the desert area, offering an opportunity to learn about their traditional way of life and their connection with the Sahara.

Around lunchtime, we stop in Khamlia, where you can enjoy traditional Berber pizza, a local specialty. Lunch is not included in the tour.

Later in the afternoon, you return toward Merzouga and prepare for the camel trip. Riding across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, you make your way toward the desert camp, where you spend the night surrounded by the Sahara landscape.

After breakfast, we leave the Merzouga desert and begin the return journey to Fes. The route takes us north through the changing landscapes between the Sahara and the Middle Atlas.

We travel again through the Ziz Valley before continuing toward Midelt. Along the way, there will be opportunities for breaks and scenic stops as we cross the varied landscapes of eastern Morocco.

From Midelt, we continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Fes. The tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation in Fes.
