4 Days Tour from Marrakech to Fes

Your 4-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour begins with pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. We leave the city and drive into the High Atlas Mountains, following a scenic road through valleys, mountain villages and the Tizi n'Tichka Pass.

Our first major stop is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortified village built from traditional earth and clay. You will have time to walk through the old ksar and discover its narrow paths, historic buildings and views over the surrounding landscape.

After Ait Ben Haddou, continue to Ouarzazate, a city closely connected to Morocco's film industry. Here, we visit Atlas Studios, where you can see film sets and learn more about movies and television productions created in this part of Morocco.

In the afternoon, the journey continues through changing desert landscapes and the Rose Valley before reaching the Dades Valley. The area is known for its kasbahs, rocky formations and beautiful mountain scenery.

After breakfast in the Dades Valley, we continue toward Tinghir and Todra Gorge. The road passes through palm groves, small towns and dry mountain landscapes.

At Todra Gorge, take time to walk between the high canyon walls and enjoy one of the most impressive natural landscapes in southern Morocco.

We then continue toward Erfoud, an area known for fossils, date palms and its location near the Sahara. As we travel farther east, the scenery becomes increasingly desert-like.

By the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will have time to relax and enjoy your first views of the Sahara before the following day's desert exploration.

After breakfast, begin a full-day 4x4 desert exploration around Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes. This extra day in the Sahara gives you more time to discover the landscapes, villages and local communities surrounding Merzouga.

Travel by 4x4 through the desert surroundings and discover the different landscapes around Erg Chebbi. Along the way, you can see oasis areas and palm groves as well as the seasonal desert lake near Merzouga. When water and seasonal conditions are suitable, flamingos and other migratory birds may sometimes be seen around the lake.

Continue through the desert toward the old mining area before visiting Khamlia village. Here, meet local people, learn about the village and its culture, and enjoy a live performance of traditional Gnawa music.

The 4x4 exploration also takes you farther into the desert surroundings, where there may be an opportunity to visit local nomad families and learn about their traditional way of life in the Sahara region.

Later in the afternoon, return toward the Erg Chebbi dunes and prepare for your camel ride. Cross the golden dunes by camel and enjoy the Sahara sunset before continuing to your desert camp.

At the camp, enjoy dinner and the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara. Spend the evening beneath the desert sky before resting in your tent.

Wake early if you would like to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, we leave Merzouga and begin the journey north toward Fes.

The road passes through the Ziz Valley, where large palm groves stretch between rocky landscapes. We stop at scenic viewpoints before continuing through the region toward Midelt.

After a break for lunch, the scenery changes as we enter the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop in the Cedar Forest, an area known for its tall cedar trees and wild Barbary macaques. You will have time to enjoy the forest and look for the monkeys in their natural surroundings.

We then continue to Ifrane, a clean and peaceful mountain town often called the Switzerland of Morocco because of its alpine-style buildings, green parks and mountain setting.

After visiting Ifrane, we continue to Fes. Your 4 days tour from Marrakech to Fes ends with drop-off at your hotel or riad.
